Kitchen Basics Classes

 

Not everyone needs to cook like a chef but…. Do you want to take your cooking game beyond the microwave and the can opener? You’re going to need certain skills. Leaning Ladder presents our Kitchen Basics Classes, where Home Economics meets Home Cooking. Come to one class or come to them all. Each class will include hands-on instruction, tricks, tips and inspiration so you’ll learn basic knife skills and techniques from sautéing, braising, frying, poaching, baking, roasting, searing, emulsifying, menu planning, budgeting and more. And best of all, you’ll learn how to use fresh, seasonal ingredients to create simple yet delicious, and healthy meals to prepare for you and your guests.

This is an ages 16+ class, we invite individuals or small groups to attend. Perfect for high school / college kids, folks wanting to hone a new skill, newly married couples that want to cook together, etc… Each class you will learn, prepare, eat and bring home new and exciting recipes. Classes are 2+ hours and $49.00 per person per class.

Friday, February 18, Roast Chicken, 6:30pm
$49.00 per person (Hands-On class)
 
Students will learn how to roast a chicken, use roasted chickens to create chicken salad and roasted vegetable salad, plus juxtapose the cost and convenience of roasting a chicken vs. store bought varieties. 
 
 
 
 

 
Saturday, March 26, Understanding Eggs, 11:30am 
$49.00 per person (Hands-On class)
 
For such a common ingredient, eggs can be challenging to cook. In this class we will learn the role of eggs in cooking and baking, how to crack, separate and enjoy making foolproof egg recipes, which will include: Sun-Dried Tomato Frittatas and Meringue Cookies.
